Snuggles!

Reading stories this morning. Sunshine can't read yet, but she knows her letters so she'll spell out all of the words in the book.

And I finished piecing my first quilt. It'll look so nice on her bed once I quilt and bind it!

Sharing?

Aralynn spends most of the day taking toys from her brother. Mostly his toys, because apparently baby toys are cooler than toddler toys. She finally left him alone and ran off to get a book while he played with ball in peace.

Still sick

Pretty sure it's a sinus infection that we're fighting. I just know it's not fun. But I do have a fabulous husband who actually let me take a much needed nap this afternoon.

My sick girl...
My playful boy...
You can tell immobility is really starting to bug him. I fear it won't be long before I have a crawler on my hands!

Sick day

So that brings me to today. Sunshine and I both woke up sick. We slept until 11:30 this morning other than a brief break from 6:45 until probably 9ish. Boogie pooped started crying when I changed his diaper and we couldn't get him to stop. I'm seriously getting sick of the hours on end of crying. Every night for the last week or so he's squalled for 3 + hours straight and nothing will calm him. Not even boobie. I thought that was the fail-safe cure-all!

My sick girl sacked out on the couch next to Daddy. He makes a good pillow. It didn't last long, but it was cute!
Brother's climbing over her because she kept taking his ball, and he wanted to play with it.

Catchup time!

So here goes, pics and such from the last few days...

Friday at gymnastics

Our crazy adventure Friday night...
Hubby is a soccer coach. He's got two U12 teams - boys and girls. The two teams were in an indoor soccer tournament this past weekend. We were planning to drive up Saturday morning stay the night and come home after the tournament Sunday. As the weekend got closer, there was a major snowstorm in the forecast late Friady night and early Sturday morning. So, we decided to try to head over the mountain before the storm rolled in. Never a good idea because it usually doesn't work. He had talked to his team manager and they told him they had already gone over and everything was fine and that three other girls were on their way as well. So we decided to go. We drove straight into the storm. Asheville, NC to Greeneville, TN is a pretty straight shot north, around an hour, maybe a little less. You have to go over a pretty steep mountain to get across the state line though so it curves on the way up and then it curves back down. We were lucky to hit 10 MPH on the way there. The highway was covered with a thick layer of snow and it was windy and coming down so hard that you could barely see anything in front of you.
As we were leaving the house, Boogie Man fell asleep, I was so relieved until 30 minutes into the drive, just as we're starting to hit bad weather he wakes up. Understatement of the year: The boy HATES his carseat. So, we endured a 3 1/2 hour drive in the dark, over a mountain, through a blizzard with a screaming baby and a toddler singing Jingle Bells at the top of her lungs in an effort to cheer him up. At least we got a good story, right? Oh yeah, and I almost forgot an hour into the drive (dark, on top of the mountain, nowhere to stop...) Sunshine starts fussing because she's "oh sopping wet" a chant which she repeats over and over most of the trip. About the time we make it to the TN line she announces that her shirt is "oh sopping wet." We finally arrive at the hotel and sure enough, her diaper has leaked so bad that the entire back of her skirt and shirt are drenched. Poor girl.

How she fell asleep Friday night...

Saturday was the girls' tournament. This was the road we had to take to get there. The City of Greeneville did not get their salt shipment before the storm came in so they had no way of clearing the roads. They were trying  to scrap, but it was just packing the snow down even more and making it slicker and icier to drive on.

She kept leaning over the wall and yelling at Daddy. "Hey Daddy, hey! Look, I gotta pretzel. Daddy! Hey!" It was the cutest thing ever! She'd get really excited whenever someone would score too. She was stomping and jumping up and down and yelling "GOOOOOAAAAL!"

Sunday we had the boys' tournament. Hunter got to sit in a highchair for the first time at lunch. He was so excited to see what was going on!

And yesterday we went "sliding in a 'now" as my sweet Sunshiney girl would say. She is absolutely fearless!
The first thing she said when I went to get her up yesterday morning was "Mommy, it snowed; I'm gonna go make a snowman!"

Ugh...

Ok so little dude has been crying for two solid hours. My husband has been on the computer since he got up this morning and I've been ready for bed for at least an hour and a half. So I'm just gonna say "Good-night, y'all!" We'll get back to our regularly scheduled blog and play catch-up tomorrow.

Potty Time...

Oh boy; my kid has found the trump card. "I've got to go pee-pee." You have to take those words seriously. If you don't you discourage the toilet learning process or worse you end up with a sopping wet toddler and a puddle on the floor. But Toddlers are smart cookies. They know the words get immediate action. It's bedtime...but I've got to go pee-pee. 50 bathroom trips and an hour later makes for a frustrated Mommy and an even more tired and cranky toddler. But what if you don't take her seriously and you end up having to change the sheets? Then you really feel like an ass for ignoring what your kid was trying so hard to tell you. Sigh...what can you do? At some point it has to end, right? Please tell me it does and preferably soon!

What a day!

I swear if I have to type this again I am giving up! Maybe third times a charm though, right?

Today has been a long and exhausting day involving a road trip over a mountain, through a blizzard, after dark, with two small and very cranky children. Since I'm posting this from my phone to a chorus of "Mommy, mommy, mommy, ..." (for the third time) I don't have it in me to go into detail. I will tell the tale eventually, just not right now.

Also we went to open gym at gymnastics this morning. I got some super cute pictures of the kids. However due to the aforementioned adventure, I have no way of posting them until Monday.

Sorry guys, I know I'm just leaving you all on the edge of your seats now. how will ever get through the weekend without every detail of my life? Ha ha ha.

Sleepy Day

Today was a sleepy kind of day. Sunshine fell asleep in her high chair at dinner, Boogie was asleep in my lap and it was all Daddy and I could do to keep our eyes open as well.

Let's go to The Hop!

Today's Wednesday so we had our weekly playdate at The Hop.

And Daddy went to work out this afternoon and came home with more pieces for the train set.

Train wreck.

Trains & Toy Story

I love my girl! Seriously, I have the coolest daughter ever. If she were prissy I'd still love her, of course, but I don't really think I'd get her. I'm so glad I got the daughter who's a little bit girly but all Tomboy. I laid Boogie down for a nap (Isn't he cute?) and when I came out of the bedroom, she runs over and grabs my hand and says "Mommy, you want play trains wis me? Well, come on then." Ok, yes I suppose I do want to play trains with you. So we played trains and watched Toy Story 2 and when the Boogie-man woke up she ran in and snuggled with him in the bed for a abit and then we all played trains together. He loves watching big sissy zoom her trains down the track.
Oh and how did Sunshine do at gymnastics in her big girl panties?
She was sooo excited to put them on this morning. She and Daddy were getting ready to leave when she said "Oh no, I forgot my diaper." I told her she had big girl panties instead because she pee-pees on the potty and asked her if she wanted a diaper instead. She quickly told me no, she wanted underwear and they left with extra pants, panties, and a diaper just in case. Less than a minute later and they were back to put on a diaper. She'd changed her mind and left wearing undies over a diaper. So I'm thinking day one is a big, fat, bust. But when they came home Daddy told me she went on the potty. It took nine trips to the restroom after the first of which she was ready to lose the diaper, but she finally did it. Yay!
Goodnight, all!

(Oh and here's the disclaimer, so I don't get in trouble for being a bad mom...No my baby does not sleep in there like that. He snuggles with big sissy as long as both are still and happy while we read bedtime stories and then I take him out of the bed and sissy reads until she falls asleep. Before we go to bed, my husband and I clear out her bed so that she has room to sleep.)

Big Girl Panties!!

Yep. Today was the day we bought big girl panties. Sunshine's been going on the potty for the last couple of weeks. She hadn't a single accident until the first - she was in her high chair and couldn't get down fast enough. Not gonna hold that against her. So today we went and bought brand new big girl panties. She got to pick them out and was so, so excited!

She has gymnastics in the morning, so we'll see how that goes...

Boogie's growing up too. Bath time has always been his favorite time of the day. Doesn't matter how cranky he is, a bath makes it all better.Lately he's been getting frustrated laying on the bath sling. He kicks and spalshes and squirms so much he slides down. I have to pull him back up out of the water about a thousand times every evening. He's also started trying to sit up. Problem is he can't yet. His attempts just force him over sideways so I'm having to keep him from rolling over face first into the water a good 50 times a night. We decided it was time for the bath seat. He doesn't quite sit well enough on his own to do without, but it gives him just enough support to once again enjoy tub time.

My kids are growing up on me. They are just getting way too big!

Lazy Sunday

Today we had a lazy Sunday. The kids let me sleep in until probably 9:30ish. Boogie woke up happy as usual. Huge grins all morning long though the flash from my camera made him stop every time. So I have a whole bunch of eyes-closed pics of him like this:

The kid looks like he's praying.

Big sissy on the other hand was fine playing in her room until Mommy and Daddy got up. Then it was whining and crying. I don't know why language fails even the most verbally advanced of toddlers and they must resort to crying. Really, you will get your point across much more easily if you just say what you need! Sigh...
For breakfast it was "sticky p-boppy honey." (For those of you unfamiliar with Sunshine-speak "p-boppy" is peanut butter and the child would live on nothing else if I would let her. As I type she is behind me begging for some again.) And what is so special about this sticky p-boppy honey? It actually HAS honey. A few months back I made her a peanut butter & honey then got lazy and went back to just peanut butter with no honey. It never bothered her until the other day when I got a new jar of honey that wasn't quite so crystallized and sticky and hard to reach in the bottom of the jar. I made her another sandwich that actually had honey so now she's specifying.
And apparently it's good!
And the Grand-Fann came over this afternoon to play while Daddy was at soccer practice. Sunshine is always thrilled about that. I was mostly thrilled about the brownies she brought - still warm from the oven. Thrilled that is until I took a bite and realized they tasted like fish food. Blech! At least the little Fanns had fun.

Other than that, not much new. Teething stinks! (And then some...)
Oh and I finished my first cloth diaper late last night. It's flannel and I have to pin it for now. I'm hoping to get snap pliers soon so I didn't want to add Velcro so that I can add snaps later. It's super cute! A few spots where the serging is wonky, but not bad for a first try. Here it is on the Boogie Man.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2011!
I've decided to do a Project 365 type blog for the year. I'm going to take a picture (or quite possibly several pictures) of my kids, my home, my family, things we're doing, our life. The goal is to post these here every day for a year and at the end of year I'll probably take all of it and have a book printed of a year in our lives.
So today, 1/1/11, is day 1. Enjoy!

Good-bye Christmas...

And hello new year...

Breakfast, then play time.

We love our trains or "all aboard choo-choos" as Sunshiney Girl calls them.

All that playing must've been exhausting because little dude sacked out with Daddy right there on the floor.
